For this week's question, I'd like to introduce a topic that we have not really explored much so far this semester: your country/culture/home. More specifically, this week you're going to write about your hometown.
What I'd like you to discuss is what you think makes your hometown unique. To be exact, describe one thing that you think everyone should know about your hometown.
To give you an example, I'll tell you something about my hometown. I'm originally from Lincoln, Nebraska (not Missoula, as some of you may already know!). The one thing I always miss about Lincoln when I'm away is the sunsets. It doesn't matter if it's spring, summer, fall, or winter: the sunsets around Lincoln are simply spectacular. Because Lincoln is located smack dab in the middle of the "great plains," an area that is as flat as a table (there are no mountains, no hills), the sky never seems to end. The result of this is that the sun paints the sky with an artist's brush of colors every evening. Imagine looking west into an endless sky of purple, blue, orange, red, and pink. These colors fill every void on the horizon and then spread upwards until they touch the farthest corners of the sky. Watching the colors of a Nebraska sunset slowly fade into the purple darkness of the coming night is one thing that everyone should experience.

Hello everyone,
ReplyDeleteAs you all know i'm from Tajikistan. Originally, I'm from the South Part, but i grew up in East Part, the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. What i like and miss in my country are food (especially "Shish kebab" similar to BBQ but more delicious)and spring. I love spring in my country, it's incredibly beautiful. It seems like everywhere covered by colorful flowers inside the green carpet, especially mountains (Tajikistan is a mountainous country. 93% of its territory is surrounded by mountains, referring to the highest mountain systems of Central Asia: Tien-Shan and Pamir)We have special places for the relaxation; enjoying fresh air in the beautiful sunny day of sping. And, If you are an active person,we have different kinds of sport: hiking, swiming or kayaki, you will find a lot of interesting activites. You won't be bored! :)

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI think the thing that make my hometown unique is that all of Kuwait is like one town only. Kuwait is very small and you cannot walk in the street without saying hello to someone you know. Kuwait City is like a jewel in the middle of the desert. Kuwait is full of lights at night and you can go out in the middle of the night and see people driving and no one sleep early. It is very beautiful and full of life. The city has a lot of big buildings and the streets are always full of people, but there is not much traffic because there are many big roads with eight lanes or more.
Hi!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I come from the suburbs of Paris. Since I was born, I live in the same city, Meudon, which is near Versailles (more famous because of its castle).Perhaps you don't know that Paris is in a "cuvette"; so most of the part of the suburbs are on hills like Meudon; that is, you have a great view on Paris. When the weather is good, you can see the Eiffel tower, the Montparnasse tower, the "sacré coeur", "la défense".... During a summer nights, it is just beautiful with Paris' lights and wonderful when the Eiffel tower shines! What you should see is fireworks on the 14th of July (national day); you don't see one but several fireworks distributed in all Paris! There are no words to discribe that!!!
Donc venez à Meudon (thus come at Meudon)....

Hi everybody,
ReplyDeleteI am from Riyadh which is the capital of Saudi Arabia.
Riyadh is a very big and beautiful city. It has many modern high buildings and skyscrapers. What I miss most is the great malls which have all domestic and international brands and it closes at late time. Shopping in Riyadh is really amazing you can find anything that you want. It also has great restaurants from all over the world. They are very fancy and what is important is the delicious taste. Even McDonalds taste better in Riyadh. The other thing that I really miss is the warmth of the sun and the warmth of the people in my city.
