Hi! Welcome to the Writing and Grammar 5 Spring 2010 blog.
Each week you will read, reflect on, and write about a variety of topics on our class blog. It is my hope that each of you will not only gain valuable practice writing about your opinions and personal experiences but also enjoy writing your entries and reading other students' contributions.
As a warm-up question, I'd like to start off by discussing your expectations and goals for this class. More specifically, what are 3 goals you have for yourself in this class? For each goal, explain why this goal is important and what you plan to do in order to accomplish it.

hi! my first goal is to learn all i can about english! to be an 'english diva'! i'll try to do all of what my professors say for improve my english...i'll do all my homeworks, also never have shame and ask something that i don't know and accept that i can and i 'must' do mistakes! i'll never give up even if sometimes it will be difficult...Secondly, i'll have a good behaviour in class by respecting all professors and the others students(hope that i'll be respected too!), don't disturb the class...and really avoid to laugh about students mistakes..! my last goal is to have gOOd connection with my schoolmates and professors..! maybe keep contact after ELI, why not?! for this, i'll be myself and accept the others with their difference. Also, i'll help them if they need it for exercises for example...that's all, hi!

ReplyDeleteMy first goal is to have good connection with my schoolmates and my professors. To me it's an important thing because you have to leave with them during at least four months so that is better if we get along! Thus I will try to take a hand to them when they need if I can of course! I will also appreciate to discover differents culture that we have in class.
Then my second goal is to speak a good english because nowadays it is the international idiom and it is usefull in what you do in life.But to speak a good english you need to express your self and not being anxious about doing mistakes...That is the rule: you learn by making mistakes!
Finally my last goal is to succeed in class and at the final test. Even if I don't want to study in America (but maybe I will change idea later!)it is gave you a level of English and thanks to it you can have more easely what you expect.To succeed you have to work hard, to do your homeworks, to be on time at class, to listen in class...
Hi,everyone.My 3 goals are improve grammar skills more than last semester,respect the friends and teacher,and writing essay is gotten fun by myself.I thought my grammar skills getting better,but I don't think my skills not enough now.Therefore, I have to prepare many times during this semester.Then I hope get into the University.This semester, There are many new level 5 students, so I don't know them very much,but I really want to getting friends.That's why respect each other and getting close to the friends.Last semester, I already felt "writing the essay is so fun." So I don't loose this mind during the semester. I will try to work hard this semester. I promise it!!!!!I'm really looking forward to your class this semester,too.

ReplyDeleteMy first goal is to be a good student at school. I will try to be on time, to do my homework, to respect my classmates and professors. I will do my best to be an active student.
My second goal is to improve my writing and grammar skills by writing everything in English in my dairy book that will happen in my life during this semester.Because i think it's a good idea to help me with my Essays....
Finaly, beside improving my writing and grammar skills I will try to improve my speaking, listening and reading skills too. And these skills will help me to pass Toefl test. Hopefully i will be a student at the University of Montana next semester.

ReplyDeleteTo improve my writing and grammar skills I have three goals in this class. First, I need to remember this saying. "Don't do tomorrow what you can do today." For improving my skills, I have to do my homework faithfully. When I think of the past, however, I was not that kind of person. ^^;; Whenever professors gave me homework, I put off doing it until the very last minute. And then, the day of before deadline, I rush to do it. But from now on, I will do my homework sincerely.
Second, I have to memorize English words and idioms. To tell the truth, I never study English after I took scholastic ability test- a kind of a SAT- in 2006. Of course, when I was high school student, I studied English so hard. (Every country does but especially in Korea, entering university is so competitive.) After the test, however, as you know my major is “Korean Literature and Korean Language” so I don’t need to study English. As a result, I forget so many words and idioms not to mention grammar. OTL… That’s the reason why I always carry my dictionary…T_T
Finally, I want to make a good relationship with you guys and girls!! I believe that making a good relationship is important to improve our English because it has an effect on the atmosphere of our class. Of course, we can learn English from our great teachers. However, I think, we can learn more from each other. You can point out my mistakes and encourage me. Also, we can study together in library. So, here is my little suggestion. >_<// Now, It’s snowy!! Why don’t we have a snowball fight on Monday? It will be fun!!

ReplyDeleteMy three goals of this semester are to improve my English grammer skill, respect my teachers and classmates, and go to class on time. First,I have to improve my English grammer skills. I'm not good at English grammer. I think my grammer skill is getting better than last semester. But when I took Toefl test, I was still confusing. So I want to be a grammer master this semester! Second, I will respect my teachers and classmates. Every semester, I had so many mistakes with my speaking, grammer and reading. Then my teachers and classmates always helped me, and also tryed to understand my English. therfore, I think showing respect is most important in class. Lastly, I will go to class on time, and I will not be late. I don't want to lose my cradits. Also that attitude shows respect to my teachers and classmates. Those are my goals for this semester, so I will try my best to achieve my goals!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI don't think this class will describe with three goals. when you see I'm at the level five, and I'm so happy with it,because it was my dream one day to leran English. I'm not professional but I can say it's not bad for someone who just took two semester of the ELI even not study at the scholl. I think I really know how josh's class was helpful for me last semester and how much I liked it.My first goal is to learn more vocabulary,Grammar and writing.second,to pass the Toefl exam.Finally,I want to know more about my classmates and to understand more about their cultures. I hope we'll all have nice and fun time togather this semester.Thanks for teachers and students from the ELI to being respectful to each other.
Hello everybody, it is really nice to meet you all and I hope the best for each one of you in this semester. Good luck everybody. First of all, I want to say that I love English language very much and I want to learn everything about it.

1) Master academic writing skills to be a better writer in my future academic study.
2) To improve my grammar to be a better speaker, writer, and to understand better.
3) To communicate with my instructor and classmates to learn from each one of them something about English language and help each other and know about other cultures as well.
What do I plan to do to achieve my goals in this class:
1) To work hard.
2) To attend all classes and pay attention to the lecture.
3) To do all my homework on time and apply all new skills immediately in daily life.
4) Study the book carefully day by day.
5) To ask the instructor about any questions that I have.
6) By communicating with my classmates.
7) Participating in the class even If my answers aren’t correct sometimes.

ReplyDeleteI'm writing my post again cuz of a mistake in my laptop..anyways, my first goal is to be a good student in the class participating in the class to get a high grade at the end of the semester. Second goal is to improve my English writing skill to be a professional writer, hope so, and cuz I'm gonna need these skills in th UM. Finally, I'm trying to be punctual with time and do my homework on time same as this one :P
Hi. I came to this class from level 3. When I arrived Missoula, my English skill was lower than now about everything. At the point, I can say that last semester was very beneficial time for me. And three my goals are improvement English skills, especially, they will be enhance writing and reading skills. Next, is that attending classes everyday and learning hard. Finally, the memory and friends of University of Montana will be sure one of the best experience in my life. Actually this semester is final, so I will go back after semester, however the fact is going to never change that we studied at the same place and the same time. I really hope enjoy at this class!!
